Independent Survey on Council Performance underway

Ratepayers and Residents

The Snowy Monaro Ratepayers and Residents Association (SMRRA) have launched an independent survey seeking the community’s views on the performance of the Snowy Monaro Regional Council (SMRC).

The survey asks 8 straightforward questions relating to Council issues and is open to anyone living in or paying rates in SMRC.

“SMRRA are concerned that council don’t seem to be listening to the community on many important issues so we thought we should ask them ourselves” SMRRA President Harry Longworth said. “For example the Council have completely ignored the 86% of residents who said no to the SRV.” Mr Longworth went on to say.

The survey comes in a number of formats covering the traditional paper form but also an online platform and an email option. Survey forms can be freely copied and distributed around and can be either posted in or dropped off at participating local businesses.

“We have included questions on rates, service efficiency and demerging in order to get an independent assessment of the communities views” SMRRA member Vele Civijovski said. “There is also the opportunity for people to list their top five concerns with council” Mr Civijovski continued.

The survey closes on Friday 17 March. To complete online go to smrra.org and follow the prompts.

“The survey results will be out in time for the election and we will be also sending the results to the candidates so that they are across the local issues with council” SMRRA member Mr Grantley Ingram said.
